I wanted to share with you my thoughts in relation to Lean and Kaizen, and I hope that my point of view is something that you might be able to make use of and perhaps apply at your workplace.

So I wanted to talk about leadership, in the Lean and Kaizen environment, and just a few things that I see could create some great benefit. Let’s consider how leaders conduct themselves and what they do, think about things a little thoughtfully, and with a little bit of strategy in a Lean environment.

These are elements of behaviour that form the basis of what we focus on at Makoto; truth, sincerity, trust, and fun.

So let’s look at this from the point of view of a leader. If as leaders we seek the truth, and we do it with sincerity, what we have is a good environment where people trust us. So we end up with a trust environment. And where that leads us to is fun.

Now, I don’t want to be flippant about fun at all.

I think that it’s very important to have fun at work and this can manifest itself in many ways. It can be challenging and stretching ourselves. Putting ourselves under pressure to achieve, and getting a sense of achievement. Or gaining the satisfaction that we’ve gone a long way to attain our goals and that we’ve reached our goals or exceeded our goals.

Truth, sincerity, trust, funA sense of enjoyment or fun is generated when leaders approach work with truth, trust, and sincerity.

In this manner, as a leader, you can work to share with and inspire those that you, as a leader, actually work for- your people.
